Happy Herbs, and Valentines!

Happy herbs indeed! Since they have been having a regular hit of worm wee with their daily water, the herbs in the back garden are rocking along nicley. Basil, Parsley, Rocket, Chives, Mint, Oregano, Chillies and Lemongrass. It is surprising how much actually fits into such a small space and how rewarding it is to go out into the herb garden and pick exactly what you need for the meal you are creating. Not only is it great that we are saving ourselves money, and wasted herbs being thrown out if we can't eat the whole bunch, but we also know that our yummy's are chemical fertiliser and pesticide free. The Parlsey has flowered and is now popping up in pockets around the side fence near the back door, we now need to walk even less distance to pick the crop!

We've had a low-key, cruisy Valentine's Day this year, no pressies, not expectation of flowers, just loving company. Mr K and I discussed it last year and all I really need is a card, preferrably home made, with some lovely words inside. That's what I got. And I'm content. The savings Mr K makes from such a low maintenance partner means there is great opportunity for surprise dinners when the costs aren't jacked up for the special day! I read an interesting article about roses for Valentine's Day and where they come from which was an eye opener for me, I recommend giving it a read.

Here's hoping your Valentine's Day was what you had hoped for it to be.
